A new division has been created at IIS: Directorate of digital technologies development

The introduction of digitalization in all spheres of the country’s economic and social life requires the development of fundamentally new means of processing large amounts of data – geographically distributed, quickly updated and often presented in different formats and poorly structured. The task of the Directorate is to develop both new algorithmic approaches for the analysis, consolidation and verification of data, as well as their software and hardware implementations for very large distributed computer systems.

The Directorate was headed by doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Alexander Bogdanov.

Within the framework of the new directorate, 3 divisions have been created:

1. Department of big data technologies development

This department was headed by doctor of technical sciences, professor Nadezhda Shchegoleva.

The main R&D areas are data consolidation to ensure a unified information space, classification of big data, formation of a big data ecosystem, monitoring and quality assurance of systems working with big data, calculation of data quality indicators in real time to improve the quality of data analytics and decision making.

2. Department of artificial intelligence technologies development

This department was headed by doctor of technical sciences, professor Alexander Degtyarev.

The department will work on the development of modern artificial intelligence and decision support methods as part of digital technologies.

3. Department of distributed ledger technologies development

This department was headed by doctor of physical and mathematical sciences, professor Alexei Uteshev.

The main tasks of the department are the development of methods for storing, updating and synchronizing information in distributed systems, the development of protocols for reaching consensus.
