Yuri Hohlov gave a topical comment on the Telegram messenger

On January 25, 2021, the chairman of IIS Board of directors Yuri Hohlov gave an interview to the information channel “Actual Comments”, which specializes in the comments of well-known experts on the most important events of the day.

Yuri Hohlov noted that Telegram is unlikely to become the main and only communication channel in the near future.

“Today’s usage statistics show that it is still far behind WhatsApp and other means of communication, such as VKontakte. Telegram will simply be one of those channels, and there will be no monopoly at all.

Secondly, all social networks or communication systems must follow the laws of the country where they operate. From this point of view, if calls for violation of the law, overthrow of the constitutional order or other illegal actions appear in certain communication platforms or social networks, then any social network or communication platform is obliged to follow national legislation and block such actions. There is nothing new here in relation to what was before and what is now. Both here in Russia and in other countries.”
